COFFEE BEANS THE RWANDAN FARMERS GOLD MINE: MAKING DIFFERENCE TO LIVES.

Rwanda is one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa with an annual growth of about 8 percent.

Agriculture amounts to 90 percent of Rwandan livelihood with about 500,000 farmers growing coffee.

Through a National Coffee strategy the government has worked with various donor agencies, consultants, supporting researches, and encouraging farmer cooperatives in order to attain high-quality coffee bean production in the country.

Today, Rwandan specialty coffee is winning international competitions and ranking as one of the world’s top-priced coffees.

For many of the farmers, coffee is their own “Goldmine”. There are several companies serving as links in the chain of ensuring that high-quality coffee beans are being produced and distributed worldwide.

These coffee experiences have resulted in more job creation, boosting farmers’ financial capacities and consumption and putting the country in the global trade networks
